Soulshine At Sea 3, the sold-out concert cruise scheduled to take place on November 4-8, has been canceled after a series of artists pulled out from the lineup following the sexual assault allegations made against cruise headliner Michael Franti of Spearhead. The exodus of artists included Dispatch, Maggie Rose, Hirie, and Liz Vice, who withdrew after musician Victoria Canal publicly accused an unnamed powerful music industry figure (Franti) of grooming and sexually abusing her when she was 19. “I’ve made the decision to no longer perform at Soulshine at Sea,” Rose wrote on her Instagram Story. “There were some allegations made by a peer of mine about another artist on the lineup and I want to stand in solidarity with her.” In response, Franti addressed his own past extramarital affair with an artist who toured with him, expressing regret and apologizing for the pain he caused to his wife. Organizers Sixthman announced plans to launch a new event on the same dates, with further details forthcoming. (Billboard)
